Wellington is such a wonderful city and these two suave souls wandering its streets made it look even more so. They had a first look and family portraits at the National War Memorial then strolled down to their ceremony and reception at Prefab. Laid-back, short and oh-so-sweet, this was a perfect intimate celebration with their loved ones. I’ll remember these two and their day for a long time.
It's pretty special when you feel like you really capture families being themselves. I spent an afternoon with the Dalman family and it was full of hilarity and laughter. Benji is such a gorgeous, vivacious little boy and he had an equally entertaining furry big brother called The Fonz. This family has so much love for each other and it really shows...
Trishna and Kamal’s Indian Hindu wedding was celebrated over three days, starting with the Pithi, Mendhi, Grah Shanti and Sangeet ceremonies at Trishna’s family home in Masterton and ending with the wedding day at Rose and Smith in Featherston. It was a whirlwind of colour, culture, emotion, hospitality, food, family, love and laughs. An absolute honour to capture and an experience I’ll never forget. It would be impossible for me to show you in detail the hours of intricate and meaningful ceremonies surrounding this beautiful pair so here is my humble attempt to sum it up with a few favourite frames…
Ash and Kewa married in delectably delicious style at Rose & Smith in the height of summer. Gorgeous details dotted throughout the day showed their personalities perfectly. The love and affection these high school sweethearts showed for each other and their families made me dance around with happiness. I often comment on how lucky I am, as I really do get the best couples around. I remember Ash and Kewa mentioning to me that they weren’t very good in front of the camera. I think you’ll see that they were quite the opposite…
Two days of colour, celebration and love. Shama and Ben had a Hindu Ceremony and lunch at Sudbury Farm and a Quaker Ceremony and reception at Ruth Pretty’s Springfield House the following day. There were so many beautiful and poignant moments. From windswept dancing in kurtas and saris to a peaceful and moving Quaker ceremony amongst the trees. But the most memorable for me was how caring and loving Ben and Shama were to each other and their families. By the end of day two, I left feeling elated and positive about life…
I knew from the first time we met that Izzy and Sam’s wedding at the Public Trust Hall would be an epic party. Izzy had a clear vision of what she wanted and it all went off without a hitch. The day was bursting with colour, culture, style and substance. The perfect example of how amazing a Wellington city wedding can be…and how our wild wind can make for some great pics!
Shout out to the incredible Flock Events for transforming the Public Trust hall into a tropical party and to Chantelle from The Gribbons for helping me capture the day.
Welcome to one of my favourite weddings from the 2019 summer. Rose and Smith is such a beautiful and unique venue. And Laura and Ben really knew how to make the most of their space. This fashionable pair started with a first look at Lismore House, then champagne on the Martinborough hills before their ceremony (which included an uber-romantic first kiss!). Followed by drool-worthy food, their favourite drinks, gorgeous styling and lots of chill time with their guests. All topped off with a raging dance floor under the stars. It was just perfection. You’ll see what I mean…
Sunset wanderings with two beautiful engaged humans. This was one of the most peaceful and calm evenings I've ever experienced at Makara. Jess and Reuben said they loved taking some time out to enjoy being together and it really shows. These two are the best...
Andrea & Craig are one of those couples who seem to be permanently stuck in the ‘romance’ phase. They little things they did and said for each other all day were crazy sweet and melted my heart! This was an unforgettably beautiful day; the people, the place, the weather. It all came together to create one big beautiful dream of a wedding…
We climbed Mt Kaukau on the most perfect summer evening. An intense golden sunset welcomed us to the top. There wasn't a breath of wind. It was magic!
Lucy and Peter’s autumn wedding at Rose and Smith in Featherston was the perfect way to finish my 2021 season. These two met at Goldings bar and bonded over their love of beer. Their connection was undeniable and they were a joy to photograph. Everyone celebrated in style and they ended the night with a boogie to Tina Turner’s ‘Simply the best’. Such a banger!
This is my second shoot with the Cunningham family and it’s wonderful to see how Cleo is growing into such a vivacious little powerhouse with striking red locks. My cluckiness was soaring with a cat, dog and baby (and matching mum-daughter outfits made by Anna herself)! Anna is the queen bee behind the famous Little Annie Pop-in Portraits which you must check out if you’ve got young kids. I’m lucky to call her a friend and it’s an honour to photograph her beautiful family…
Megan and Wesley married at the ever stunning Rose and Smith. We took some portraits at the Lot Eight Olive Oil grove in Martinborough with their delightful son Remy and then headed to Featherston for their ceremony. Their wedding had such a beautiful ambiance. Megan and Wesley tied the knot in a small clearing surrounded by native bush (plus a nosey kereru!) then celebrated the night away in style. It was an absolute honour and a pleasure to meet these two wonderful humans. I hope you enjoy their story…
This is the second time I’ve photographed the charismatic Couch family. Holly is a friend of mine and wonderful photographer so it was such a privilege to be able to capture them on our beautiful south coast. The evening was magical and we got some incredible pre-thunderstorm light. Our hair was standing on end from the electricity! I love the connection these four have with each other. We all had so much fun. Just what family sessions are all about…
The picturesque town of Clyde was the setting for this amazing wedding. Nicky and Zac were like movie stars and the whole day was a visual feast for the eyes. So much deliciousness! Grab a cuppa and enjoy...
Nadia and Joe are deliciously in love and it is infectious. They are the kind of people you instantly feel at ease with and it was an absolute joy to photograph their beautiful smiling faces. Tarureka Estate was the perfect cosy setting for their late Autumn wedding. It was one of those weddings that I left at the end of the day feeling so elated and happy…
A wedding in the peaceful Mangaroa Valley in an old army shed with farm animals galore. From the charismatic pig called Lucky, to the seven dogs and everything in between, it was an animal lovers dream. The way they did up that Army Shed was sensational and there were so many beautiful and thoughtful touches dotted throughout the day. Alongside all of the visual beauty, there were just so many good souls. Tearful vows, meaningful hugs, moving speeches and one of the most powerful hakas I've ever witnessed. And some pretty smooth dance moves to top it all off! Emily and Troy are so good together, making each other laugh so hard they can't stand straight. I think you’ll enjoy this one…
Angela & Nilay asked me to take some portraits of them after their Indian wedding ceremony one summery Sunday in February. They looked absolutely spectacular. All the intricate details on their traditional outfits were a photographer’s dream. This is also the first time I’ve photographed a pink sari. Simply beautiful…
